The Golden Bear defense limited UCLA to 144 total yards today, the second time this season Cal has yielded under 150 yards of offense (also UC Davis, 81).
The Bruins gained only 26 rushing. UCLA entered the game averaging 262.4 yards per game on the ground, No. 10 in the nation.
UCLA continues to lead the all-time series with Cal, 49-31-1, but the Golden Bears have won three in a row and are 6-3 against the Bruins in the Jeff Tedford era. Cal hasn't lost to UCLA at Memorial since 1998, rolling off a current streak of six straight home victories.
Cal's record following a bye week is now 9-6 in the 15 regular-season games in which the Golden Bears have had more than the standard one week of preparation.

TB Shane Vereen rushed for 151 yards today and is now nine yards away from tying Reynard Rutherford for No. 10 on Cal's all-time career rushing list. It was his third straight 100-yard rushing game (sixth in last nine games) and eighth 100-yard game in his Cal career. Vereen has now scored multiple touchdowns in games eight times, including six of his last eight contests dating back to last season.
Vereen also has at least one catch in all 31 of his collegiate contests, which is the longest by a Football Bowl Subdivision running back and the ninth-longest of all FBS players.
Vereen had 202 all-purpose yards (151 rush, 51 pass) to move into 10th all-time at Cal for all-purpose yards at 3,389 yards, passing Dwight Garner.
Vereen has found the end zone 10 times for 60 points in 2010, with eight rushing touchdowns and two more on catches.

Jeff Tedford now sports a record at Cal of 70-37 (.654), only four victories behind the school's all-time leader, Andy Smith (74, 1916-25) and three shy of James Schaeffer (73, 1909-15). He is one of only eight current FBS coaches to have an active string of at least eight consecutive winning seasons. His win total for conference games (42) are the most ever by a Cal coach.
