Cal Loses to Stanford in NorPac Final, 3-0

STANFORD - The California field hockey team lost to No. 15 Stanford, 3-0, on Saturday in the final of the NorPac Tournament. The Golden Bears' season comes to an end with a final overall record of 8-11.

Junior Natalie Nurnberg led all players with six shots and also led her squad with four shots on goal. Fellow junior Sophie Sproats also had two shots on goal.

Stanford scored twice in the first 10 minutes to take an early 2-0 lead. The goals were scored by Becky Dru and Xanthe Travlos. In the 19th minute, Stephanie Byrne gave the Cardinal a commanding 3-0 lead with her score.

Despite allowing three goals, Cal goalkeeper Maddie Hand made 11 saves.

Stanford outshot Cal, 21-11, and the Cardinal earned seven penalty corners to the Bears' three.
