Lone Indiana Goal Proves To Be Enough to Beat Cal

IOWA CITY, Iowa -
Morgan Fleetwood of Indiana tallied the only goal in Saturday's contest against California in Iowa City, Iowa, as the Hoosiers topped the Golden Bears, 1-0. Cal fell to 3-6 on the year, while Indiana improved to 7-4. Highlighting the Bears' day was junior Lisa Lohre notching two defensive saves.
Fleetwood, who led all players with seven shots, scored in the 54th minute. Fleetwood slammed one past Cal keeper Maddie Hand for the game's only goal. Both Hand and Indiana keeper Alex Mann had three saves on the day.
Lohre's two defensive saves gave her a conference-leading six on the year.
Sophomore Erin Magill led the Bears with two shots, one of which was on goal. Junior Sophie Sproats and freshman Deanna Kennedy had the other two shots on goal for Cal.
The Hoosiers outshot the Bears, 11-4, and Indiana earned 10 corners to Cal's five.
The Bears face Iowa tomorrow at noon (PT) in Iowa City, Iowa. Cal remains in the Midwest after tomorrow's game. The Bears will face No. 17 Northwestern on Tuesday at noon (PT).
