No. 13 Cal Field Hockey Slips Past Stanford, 3-2

STANFORD, Calif. - After coming from behind against Stanford at home on Sept. 9, the 13th-ranked California field hockey team traveled across the Bay, defeating the Cardinal on its home field in a closely contested game, 3-2, Sunday afternoon. The win marked the 12th consecutive defeat of Stanford in the past five years.
Senior forward Valentina Godfrid started the Golden Bears off right with a goal off a penalty corner 19 minutes into the game. Sophomore midfielder Rachel Moffitt and sophomore forward Andrea Lo were credited with the assists on the goal. The goal was Godfrid's 11th of the season.
Lo gave the Bears a 2-0 advantage going into halftime with an unassisted goal three minutes after Godfrid's first goal.
Stanford scored in the early minutes of the second half, when Julia Drewes scored for the Cardinal.
Godfrid gave the Bears a 3-1 edge with her second goal of the game 18 minutes into the second half. Drewes scored Stanford's final goal in the last 10 minutes of the game.
The Bears travel to the Midwest for a three-game swing, facing Miami (Ohio) in Oxford, Ohio, on Sept. 29 at 3 p.m. (CST).
