Field Hockey Routs Columbia, 6-0

BERKELEY - The California Golden Bears rebounded quickly from its Tuesday loss to Maryland, by routing Columbia, 6-0, on Friday evening at Maxwell Family Field.

The Bears got off to an early start. Ten minutes into the game, sophomore forward Andrea Lo tapped in a goal off a missed shot attempt. Ashley Glosz was credited with the assist. Four minutes after Lo's goal junior forward Jennifer Crane controlled the ball into the center of the circle and drilled in the Bears second goal.

Senior forward Valentina Godfrid attempted a shot off a penalty corner three minutes into the game. The shot was wide. However, 21 minutes later Godfrid connected off a penalty corner using a high flick, for her fifth goal of the season.

Sophomore backfielder Christina McGrath also tapped into the scoring action against the Lions. McGrath converted off a penalty corner. Freshman forward Kellie York and sophomore midfielder Ashley Glosz assisted McGrath.

Besides Glosz's three assists on the game, she also scored her second goal of the season. The final Bears' goal was scored by Kellie York off a Jamie Nance pass.

The Bears return to the field on Sunday, Sept. 3 to face New Hampshire. The match is scheduled for a 1 p.m. (PST) start at Maxwell Family Field.
