No. 12 Field Hockey Falls in Heartbreaker to No. 4 Duke

DURHAM, N.C. -- The No. 12 California field hockey team (12-4, 4-0 NorPac) held No.4 Duke on Saturday to only one goal, but couldn't convert on their shot attempts falling, 1-0, to the Blue Devils in Durham, N.C.

The Bears held Duke most of the game, only allowing 10 shot attempts. Duke didn't score until in the 59th minutes of the contest, off a straight shot up the middle by the Blue Devils' Laura Suchoski.

A defensive struggle, the only Bears to attempt a shot were senior forward Valentina Godfrid (6 attempts), junior forward Jennifer Crane (one attempt), sophomore midfielder Ashley Glosz (one attempt) and sophomore forward Andrea Lo (one attempt).

The Bears will finish up their East Coast stance with a conference match against Radford tomorrow, Sunday, Oct. 22. The 1 p.m. (EST) match will be held in Durham, N.C.
