COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The California field hockey team (3-4, 0-0 NorPac) fell to Maryland (6-0, 0-0 ACC), 4-2 Saturday morning in College Park, Md., on the Maryland Campus.

Cal jumped out to an early 2-1 lead on the Terps with two goals by junior Valentina Godfrid. Godfrid's first goal of the day was off a shot from the right side, seven minutes into the game. In the final minutes of the first period, Godfrid collected her second goal of the day off a back-handed shot from the top of the circle.

Maryland started out the second period with two quick goals from Emily Beach and Paula Infante, which gave the Terps a 3-2 command over the Bears. Infante scored Maryland's final goal with 13 minutes remaining in the game.

Goalkeeper Veronica Sykes tallied five saves, which all came in the second period.

The Bears end their East Coast trip on Sunday when they square off against American in College, Park, Md. Match time is slated for 1 p.m. (EST).
