Cal Loses, 18-8, to Notre Dame

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - California lost to Notre Dame, 18-8, on Tuesday afternoon at Moose Krause Stadium. Sophomore midfielder Liz Reifsnyder led the Golden Bears in scoring with two goals and two assists. Cal, which has lost two straight games, falls to 4-4 (1-0 MPSF), while Notre Dame improves to 2-4.

The Fighting Irish led, 9-3, at halftime, thanks in part Crysti Foote, Caitlin McKinney and Brittany Fox, who scored two goals each. Cal got four straight goals from Reifsnyder, Molly Brady, Jocelyn Paul and Laura Cavallo to start the second half and close to within 9-7.

But Notre Dame then scored nine straight goals to clinch the win. Reifsnyder set up freshman Brittany Aungier's goal at 58:37 to close the scoring.

Cavallo scored two goals and one assist, Brady had two goals and Paul and Aungier scored one apiece. Senior Erin Hafkenschiel had one assist. Sophomore goalkeeper Hilary Lynch made nine saves.

Cal next plays Brown at 4 p.m. ET on Friday in Providence, R.I., and plays Harvard at noon ET on Sunday in Cambridge, Mass.
