Amanda Augustus and Amy Jensen captured Cal’s first-ever NCAA title in women’s tennis…the pair won two NCAA doubles championships with the Golden Bears, starting in 1998 when they became the first unseeded pair to win the title...a year later, they repeated their feat and finished their career as a tandem with a 56-13 record... Jensen went on to claim a third consecutive crown in 2000, setting an NCAA record that still stands...prior to joining forces with Jensen, Augustus reached the NCAA quarterfinals with Francesca La’O in 1996 and the second round with Curran in 1997...individually, Augustus was a four-time NCAA qualifier in singles, advancing to the quarterfinals as a junior and earning a combined six All-America certificates in singles (4) and doubles (2)...Augustus returned to Cal in July 2007 as head women’s tennis coach, directing the Bears to the NCAA team final in both 2008 and 2009...under Augustus' leadership, Mari Andersson and Jana Juricova won the NCAA doubles championship in 2009, Juricova captured the NCAA singles title in 2011 and the Bears won the 2016 ITA National Team Indoor Championship, which marked the program's first national team title.
