MILLBRAE - The California women's golf team finished in second place for the second consecutive tournament Tuesday at The Silicon Valley Showcase, their fifth top-five finish of the season. Senior Adora Liu led the Golden Bears carding a 2-under 211, finishing in second place, the highest finish of her career since tying for second at the rain-shortened Causeway Invitational as a freshman.

After shooting 4-over par on the first four holes Tuesday, Liu bounced back, carding five birdies for a 1-under par 70 in the final round.

"It's pretty cool to accomplish that," Liu said. "I really tried to come back and do it for the team, I just kind of had to keep it together and keep going."

The Bears shot a 9-over par 293 Tuesday, ending the day one shot back of tournament champion Eastern Michigan.

"I think it's a really good place to finish in second, and especially after finishing in second at Harding park a couple of weeks ago, Cal head coach Sofie Aagaard said. "We learned a lot from Harding park that we were able to apply to this week, and we saw great growth in those areas. It always is frustrating when you finish one shot behind the leaders, but at the same time, we put ourselves in positions to win tournaments, and that's very important."

The Bears had three players finish in the top 10 as junior Jasmine Kahler shot a 3-over par 216, finishing in sixth place, and junior Constance Fouillet carded a 5-over par 218, finishing in a tie for ninth place.

Next up, the Bears head to Napa for the three-day Chevron Silverado Showdown that starts Monday.
