Donley, Sherman Named National Pair Of The Week

Duo Went 4-0 Against Top-10 Opponents

Emma Donley and senior Portia Sherman of the California beach volleyball team have been named the AVCA/CBVB National Pair of the Week.

Donley and Sherman went 4-0 at last week's Outrigger DUKE Kahanamoku Beach Classic in Honolulu as the Golden Bears' No. 1 pair, with all four of their victories coming against pairs from top-10 opponents. The duo defeated teams from No. 2 Stanford, No. 4 USC, No. 6 Texas and No. 7 Loyola Marymount. Donley and Sherman only dropped one set along the way.

Cal's top pair was also leading its match against No. 1 UCLA before it went unfinished due to weather delays.

Donley and Sherman were named AVCA First-Team All-Americans last season and broke the program's record for single-season wins (28). They become the second Cal pair to be named AVCA/CBVB National Pair of the Week in history, joining Ainsley Radell and Ashley Delgado in 2023.

The Bears make their home debut this weekend at the Battle of the Bay at the Clark Kerr Sand Courts, where they host Sac State, UC Davis, USF and Pacific.
