ATLANTA – The No. 5 California women's swimming & diving team recorded a pair of strong results, including a school record, Tuesday at the ACC Championships in Atlanta, Georgia.
 
Cal earned two top-four finishes on the first day of swimming events and wrapped up the diving events with two more finals appearances. Following the third overall day of competition the Golden Bears sit in third place with 207 points behind Stanford (261) and Pitt (227).
 
The Bear quartet of Mary-Ambre Moluh (backstroke), Silje Slyngstadli (breast), Annie Jia (butterfly), and Mia West (freestyle) made a statement in the first race of the championships breaking the program record in the 200-yard medley relay. Cal's time of 1:33.29 was good for fourth place and a strong 52 points out of the gate.
 
The second and final swim event of the day was the 800 freestyle relay where the team of Teagan O'Dell, West, Ava Chavez, and Claire Weinstein clocked the second-fastest time in Cal history to take second place and score 56 points. The Bears touched the wall at 6:50.15 which was 5.03 seconds faster than their entry time and just 0.04 seconds away from breaking the school record. West led the way with the fastest split at 1:40.95 which would also be good for second on the program's 200 free standings.
 
On the diving side both Ariana Drake and Violet Williamson made it to the finals of the platform event in a pool of 27 competitors. Drake finished sixth with 237.5 points and Williamson took eighth at 223.7 to give the Bears a combined 46 points towards their teams score.
 
Day four of the ACC Championships continues tomorrow with the 500 free, 200 IM, 50 free, and 200 free, and 200 free relay events taking place at McAuley Aquatics Center. Prelims begin at 6:30 a.m. PT and finals start at 2:30 p.m. PT on ACCNX.
