After the 2025 spring season that elevated the California men's tennis program to a top 15 ranking, the Golden Bears open the 2025 fall campaign as the host school in the annual Battle In The Bay tournament beginning Thursday at the California Tennis Club.

The Bears will host athletes from more than 20 teams over the course of the event.

Cal enters the fall season with eight members on the squad. The Bears' team makeup in the fall is four returners, three transfers and one freshman.

Alex Aney, Fryderyk Lechno-Wasiutynski, Bernardo Munk Mesa and Timofey Stepanov return to Berkeley, while Tiago Silva (Pacific), Lenn Luemkemann (Oregon) and Paris Pouatcha (Oregon) joined as transfers and Winston Lee joins the squad as the only freshman.

The Battle In The Bay offers collegiate players the opportunity to earn wildcards into professional-level tournaments.

This year, players have the chance to earn wildcard entries into the following events:
  • Tiburon Men's ATP Challenger Tournament
  • Fairfield Men's ATP Challenger Tournament
  • Templeton Women's WTA Tournament
  • Rancho Santa Fe Women's WTA Tournament
After this weekend's matches, Cal will travel a contingent to Tulsa, Oklahoma, to partake in the ITA's All-American Championship from Sept. 20-28.
