Alexy Crowned National Champion In 100 Freestyle
4 Bears Qualify For World Championships
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Recent Cal graduate
Jack Alexy of the California men's swimming & diving team was crowned the national champion in the 100-meter freestyle on Tuesday at the 2025 Toyota National Championships in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Alexy began his stellar day with a U.S. Open and a meet-record time of 46.99 in the preliminaries to take the top seed in the A-final. He went on to finish ahead of the field in the finals with a time of 47.17 to earn his first championship of the meet. After earning a spot in the A-final, Cal alum
Destin Lasco clocked a personal-best time of 47.58 to qualify for the 2025 World Aquatics Championships in Singapore later this summer, alongside Alexy, with a fourth-place finish in the event.
Cal alum Trenton Julian qualified for the World Championships after a fourth-place finish in the 200-meter butterfly after clocking a 1:55.26 ahead of alum
Gabriel Jett, who followed shortly afterward in a time of 1:55.37 to take fifth.
On the women's side, incoming freshman Claire Weinstein clinched a spot at the World Championships with a runner-up finish in the 800-meter freestyle with a personal-best time of 8:19.67. Weinstein also earned an eighth-place finish in the 100-meter freestyle with a time of 53.72, another personal best.
