"I'm honored to be invited to play in the Oui-Play event and have an opportunity to compete in such a prestigious setting," Cal head coach
Charmin Smith said. "It's a testament to how far this program has come during my time here and I'm excited to showcase the Bears on an international stage. It gives us a chance to go against some really high-level competition and provide a bonding experience for a team full of fresh new faces."
The Golden Bears and Commodores will be meeting for the fifth time, with the all-time series tied at two wins each. The Bears were victorious 67-59 in the last meeting on Dec. 2, 2007, in the Contra Costa Times Classic championship game, which was played at Cal.
Vanderbilt is the second confirmed opponent in the Bears' 2025-26 nonconference schedule. Cal will travel to face Missouri in the ACC/SEC Challenge on Thursday, Dec. 4.
Cal enters the 2025-26 season coming off one of the best seasons in the program's recent history. Last year, the Golden Bears earned an at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2018-19, won 25 games for the first time since 2012-13, maintained an Associated Press Top 25 ranking for eight straight weeks (going as high as No. 18), set a program record for home wins in a season (16), going 16-1 at Haas Pavilion, defeated multiple ranked teams and advanced to the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament.
