No. 6 Bears Win Senior Day Meet

Crandall-Howell Surpasses 150 Career Wins

BERKELEY – The No. 6 California women's gymnastics team closed out the regular season Sunday with a first-place finish in its senior day quad meet. The Golden Bears paced the field with a team score of 197.675 followed by No. 14 Stanford (196.975) in second, Arizona State (196.250) in third, and San Jose State (194.150) in fourth.
 
Cal finishes up the regular season with a 24-2 overall record with its only two losses coming in the second week of the season to No. 1 Oklahoma and No. 2 LSU in Oklahoma City. For the second straight year the Bears posted a perfect 9-0 record at Haas Pavilion where they have not lost a meet since 2020.
 
Co-head coach Elisabeth Crandall-Howell reached a major milestone surpassing 150 career wins. She now boasts a 151-47-2 record giving her a .758 win percentage, which is the highest in Cal history.
 
In her final meet at Haas Pavilion, senior Mya Lauzon shined once again winning her sixth all-around title of the season with a 39.6750. She added wins in the balance beam (9.975) and the floor exercise (9.95) and a third-place finish on the uneven bars (9.925) as well, giving her a career-high 25 event titles this season.
 
After opening the meet with 49.225 on the vault, the Bears turned it on for their final three home rotations with a 49.500 on the uneven bars and equal 49.475s on beam and floor. The latter three scores all rank top five this season for the program.
 
Senior Maddie Williams, who is the third-ranked bars competitor in the nation, won her sixth UB title of the year with a season-high tying 9.95. She has now turned in four-straight 9.925+ routines on the event. Lauzon took bronze in the event and senior Ella Cesario earned a 9.90 that was good for fourth place.
 
Cal swept the beam podium with Lauzon earning a 10 from one judge for a season-high 9.975. Junior eMjae Frazier, who finished second in the all-around at 39.550, took silver on beam as well with a stunning routine that was scored a 9.925. Cesario posted her second-straight 9.90 of the night to take third.
 
Frazier and sophomore Kyen Mayhew showed out on floor scoring 9.90s to split a share of third place with Stanford's Claire Dean. On the final routine of the night and the final routine of her Haas career, Lauzon took the floor and dazzled once again recording a 9.95 to win the event. She has now recorded a 9.95 or better on seven of her last eight floor routines.
 
Following the meet, Lauzon, Williams, Cesario, Jordan Kane, and Abbey Scanlon were honored in a senior day ceremony each being gifted a framed 'Bloom' leotard.
 
Cal will now prepare to head to Greensboro, North Carolina to compete in its first ACC Championship on Saturday at First Horizon Coliseum. First routine is scheduled for 4 p.m. PT on ACC Network.
