Two Bears Qualify for NCAA Championships
Vavitsas, Thai Join Williamson At Nationals
FEDERAL WAY, Wash. - California sophomore Geoffrey Vavitsas and Junior Joshua Thai each punched their tickets to the NCAA Championships after placing third and sixth in the platform dive respectively on the last day of NCAA Zone E Diving Championships on Wednesday.Â

Since both divers placed in the top 12 in both the 3-meter dive and platform diving at Zones, they each automatically landed spots in the NCAA Championships in both events later this month.. Vavitsas and Thai join freshman Violet Williamson as NCAA qualifiers for the Golden Bears..Â

This will be Vavitsas' second straight appearance and Thai's third consecutive appearance at the NCAA Championships. Last year, Vavitsas finished in fifth place in the platform dive with a final score of 404.90 and Thai placed 10th with a 394.50.

Williamson, after placing 11thin preliminaries, scored a 498.60 to also finish 11th on the 1-meter dive which earns her another spot in the NCAA Championships next week. She will now compete in the 1-meter and 3-meter events.

The 2025 NCAA women's swimming & diving championships are scheduled for March 19-23 while the men's meet runs March 26-29.
