No. 9 Bears Polish Off Dominant Minnesota Invitational
Cal Wins Every Event During Meet
MINNEAPOLIS – The No. 9 California women's swimming & diving team capped off a dominant week at the Minnesota Invitational on Saturday, polishing off a sweep of every event of the meet and registering more NCAA qualifying and top 10 times in the process.

Maya Geringer recorded the second-best time ever at Cal in the 1,650-yard freestyle event, winning with a mark of 15:53.92. The time was also the sixth-fastest in the country this season.
The Golden Bears' 400 freestyle relay team of
Mary-Ambre Moluh,
Isabelle Stadden,
Leah Polonsky and
Morgan Brophy won with an NCAA-qualifying time of 3:11.76 – the sixth-best in the nation this season. Moluh, who Friday night set a school record in winning the 100 backstroke, also took the 100 free on Saturday evening. Moluh won three individual events and was part of four winning relays during the meet.

Lilou Ressencourt finished off a sweep of the butterfly events, following up her victory in the 100 fly with a win in the 200 fly. Ressencourt just edged teammate
Lizzy Cook, prevailing with a time of 1:56.17 to Cook's 1:56.20. Teammate
Ava Chavez was third at 1:57.39.
Stadden easily won her signature event – the 200 backstroke – with a time of 1:50.93, which is the ninth-fastest mark in the country this season. Stadden beat teammate and runner-up
Finley Anderson by over three seconds. Fellow Cal freshman
Adriana Smith finished third at 1:56.50.
Abby Herscu won the 200 breaststroke with the sixth-fastest time ever at Cal (2:08.83). Polonsky (2:09.73) and
Alicia Henry (2:09.77) finished immediately behind.
The Bears easily won the team championship, registering 1,873.5 points to outdistance runner-up Minnesota's 1,390. Geringer and Polonsky each won two individual events and Cal recorded 28 NCAA provisional B-cut times. Cal also had 12 swims that rank in the top 10 nationally this season. Polonsky (200 IM) and Moluh (100 back) each swam NCAA A-cut times, giving them automatic entry into the NCAA Championships.
The Bears are now off until the spring semester when they resume the dual meet season against UCLA on Jan. 17 to open their home schedule.
