MINNEAPOLIS – The No. 9 California women's swimming & diving team rocketed through the pool at the Jean K Freeman Aquatic Center on Thursday, winning every event while recording NCAA qualifying and national top-10 times in the process on the second day of the Minnesota Invitational.

Senior Leah Polonsky left the field of the 200-yard individual medley in the dust, registering an NCAA A-cut time of 1:53.65 that was almost five seconds faster than runner-up and teammate Isabelle Stadden. Polonsky's mark was the fourth-fastest in the country this season. Stadden (1:58.32) and teammates Margaux McDonald (1:58.48) and Arielle Brotman (1:59.40) rounded out the top-four while senior Lizzy Cook placed sixth (2:00.42).

Freshman Mary-Ambre Moluh, who swam for her native France during last summer's Olympic Games in Paris, reeled off a 21.68 to win the 50-yard freestyle. Her mark was the fifth-best ever at Cal in the event and sixth-best time this season in the country. The Bears had six A-finalists in the 50 free, as McKenna Stone placed third (22.24), Stadden was fourth (22.25), Morgan Brophy finished fifth (22.35), Ella Mazurek was sixth (22,53) and Femke Hoppenbrouwer placed eighth (22.95).

Cal also registered an NCAA A-cut time in the 200 freestyle relay, as the team of Mia West, Stadden, Moluh and Stone went 1:27.54 for the 10th-fastest mark in the nation this season.

Graduate transfer Maya Geringer won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:40.98. Sophomores Ava Chavez (5th, 4:45.48) and Kathryn Hazle (8th, 4:50.16) also made the A-final.

Stadden, Brophy, West and Mazurek all joined Moluh in earning NCAA B-cut provisional qualifying times in the 50 free while Geringer, Chavez and Hazle did the same in the 500 free. McDonald and Hazle joined Stadden with B-cut marks in the 200 IM.

Freshman Rebecca Ciancaglini finished seventh in the 3-meter dive.

After the first two days of the Minnesota Invitational, the Bears have earned 668.5 points to take a commanding lead in the team standings. Minnesota is second with 400 points while Harvard is third with 297.5 points.

The meet continues Friday with the 100 butterfly, 400 individual medley, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke, 1-meter dive and 400 medley relay.
