TEMPE, Ariz. – The No. 1 California men's swimming & diving team defeated No. 9 Stanford (181-172) but fell to No. 6 Arizona State (143-210) in the double dual tri-meet on Friday.
 
Cal began the day in the 800-yard freestyle relay where it earned a third-place finish with the A lineup of Senior Jack Alexy, Gabriel Jett, Keaton Jones and Robin Hanson in a time of 6:16.89. The B lineup of Nans Mazellier, Dare Rose, Thackston McMullan and Matthew Jensen placed fourth in a time of 6:23.53.
 
Freshman Yamato Okadome won the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:53.31, which is the eighth-fastest time in the nation so far this season. Jones took first-place honors in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:41.68.
 
Alexy placed second in the 50-yard freestyle with the sixth-fastest time in the country of 19.24. Jett had a stellar night after taking first place in the 500-yard freestyle (4:18.08) and second in the 200-yard individual medley (1:44.59).
 
Rose placed third in the 100-yard butterfly after clocking a 45.73 time, while Jenson came in sixth with a time of 46.99.
 
The Golden Bears' A lineup of Alexy, senior Bjorn Seeliger, Lucca Battaglini and Jenson placed fourth in the 200-yard freestyle relay.   
 
Cal will continue its 2024-25 campaign at the Minnesota Invitational beginning Dec. 4 in Minneapolis, Minn.
