No. 7 Bears Wrap Up Victory Over UC San Diego
Freshman Mary-Ambre Moluh Captures Victories In Both Sprint Freestyle Races
LA JOLLA – Freshman Olympian
Mary-Ambre Moluh made it a clean sweep of the sprint freestyle races with a victory in the 100-yard free on Saturday, leading the No. 7 California women's swimming & diving team to a convincing 394-167 victory over UC San Diego at Canyonview Aquatic Center.
Moluh, who represented France at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, took the 100 free in a time of 22.16. She also won the 50 free on Friday on the first day of the invitational-style dual meet.
The Golden Bears captured the top three races in both the 400 individual medley and 1,650 freestyle on Saturday, with senior
Fanni Fabian winning the 400 IM with a mark of 4:14.65. Senior
Lizzy Cook finished second (4:18.35) and sophomore
Kathryn Hazle was third (4:21.78). Cook was also an individual winner in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:57.26.
Graduate transfer
Maya Geringer won her first race at Cal with a 16:21.89 in the 1,650 freestyle. Fabian finished second (16:45.02) and Hazle was third (16:46.80).
Moluh was also part of the Bears' winning 200 freestyle relay team while fifth-year senior
Isabelle Stadden was also a triple-winner with an individual victory in the 200 IM and wins in the 200 free relay and 200 medley relay.
The Bears are back in the pool Friday when they visit No. 4 Stanford in a triple distance meet at 1 p.m.
