LOS ANGELES – Thirtieth-ranked California finished 0-2 on its SoCal road trip after falling 4-0 to No. 4 UCLA on Saturday at the Los Angeles Tennis Center. The Bruins clinched when top-ranked Martin Redlicki defeated 57th-ranked Cal senior
Billy Griffith, 7-6(3), 6-4, at court-one singles.
The Golden Bears - who lost at USC, 4-2, on Friday - now have an 8-6 overall record (1-2 Pac-12). UCLA is 19-2 (4-0 Pac-12).

The Bruins doubled their lead to 2-0 in singles when the 45th-ranked Smith topped Molloy, 6-3, 6-4, on court three. Cal trailed 3-0 when Nishimura lost to No. 102 Evan Zhu, 6-4, 6-4, before UCLA ended the match on court one.

Cal captured one set on the day, as Draper trailed No. 66 Logan Staggs 6-3, 4-6, 2-2 on court four when the match ended.

"We were competitive on every court today in singles and doubles, but overall UCLA outmuscled us," said
Peter Wright, Cal's Director of Men's Tennis. "Our guys will learn and rebound from this weekend, and I feel confident as we move into the second half of our conference matches. I've maintained all year that this is a smart, tenacious team, and each match we play helps us get stronger and more prepared for the next match."
