INDIAN WELLS, Calif. - California swept past Purdue, 4-0, on Friday at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden to advance to Saturday's semifinals of the BNP Paribas Open Collegiate Tennis Challenge presented by Oracle. Freshman Jacob Brumm clinched Friday's victory when he beat the Boilermakers' Athell Bennett at court-six singles, 6-2, 6-3.

Cal (6-4) won the doubles point and also got singles wins from senior J.T. Nishimura and freshman Jack Molloy against Purdue (7-7) in the tournament's quarterfinal round.
 
On Saturday at 2 p.m., the third-seeded Golden Bears will play the second-seeded Baylor Bears in the semis. Baylor – which is ranked 13th in the USTA poll and 29th in the Oracle ITA poll this week – defeated South Florida, 4-3, in Friday's quarterfinals.
 
Last season, Cal lost 4-0 to Baylor in the semifinals at Indian Wells, after beating Baylor, 4-2, earlier in the year at the ITA National Team Indoor Championship.
