TULSA, Okla. – The Barretto brothers led No. 19 California to a 6-1 victory over Bryant on Friday at the University of Tulsa's Michael D. Case Tennis Center, as the Golden Bears began the dual-match season 1-0, while Bryant opened at 0-1. Sophomore Dominic Barretto clinched the match in singles after pairing with his brother, freshman Paul Barretto, to clinch doubles.

The elder Barretto beat Philip Belmatch, 6-4, 6-2, on court six to give Cal a 4-0 lead and secure the overall win. Earlier, the Barrettos bested Belmatch and Grant Pertile, 6-2, on court three to wrap up the doubles point.

Paul Barretto added a 6-0, 6-2 win over Jorge Isaias Ortiz-Garcia at court-three singles.

"This was a great match for us to start the season," Cal head coach Peter Wright said. "Bryant was solid in doubles and singles, and all of the matches were competitive today. We still have a lot to work on in terms of capitalizing on the opportunities we're creating. I was impressed with our doubles today, and we had great chemistry out there."

Cal will remain in Tulsa to play the host Golden Hurricane on Sunday at 1 p.m. CT.
