ST. HELENA, Calif. – California seniors Billy Griffith and J.T. Nishimura remained unbeaten in singles and as a doubles team on Saturday at the Audi Napa Valley Tennis Classic. Playing at the Meadowood Napa Valley Resort, the 49th-ranked Griffith knocked off Pacific's Tadiwa Chinamo, 6-1, 1-6, 6-1, and Nishimura defeated Alex Lee, 6-2, 7-6(4), of the USTA junior team.
 
Both Bears are 2-0 in their respective groups, with Nishimura leading group 2 and Griffith topping group 4. After another round of singles Sunday morning, the eight group winners will advance to the Solinco USTA Wild-Card Shootout later in the day.
 
Also on Saturday, the 39th-ranked duo of Nishimura and Griffith topped the USTA pair of Andrew Dale and Andres Martin, 6-2, and then beat Oklahoma's Alexander Bakshi and Jochen Bertsch, 6-1, in round-robin doubles.
 
Cal freshman Jack Molloy also won in singles Saturday, upsetting USC's 96th-ranked Thibault Forget, 7-5, 6-3, while sophomore Bjorn Hoffmann lost to USC's Tanner Smith, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3. Molloy is 1-1 in group 3 and Hoffmann is 1-1 in group 8.
 
In doubles, Molloy and Hoffmann lost a couple of close matches to Baylor's Constantin Frantzen and Roy Smith, 7-6(4), and to Notre Dame's Matt Gamble and Alex Lebedev, 7-6(5).
 
The Audi Napa Valley Tennis Classic concludes Sunday.
