BERKELEY  California's Karla Popovic finished a quick, 6-1, 6-1 victory over Kyra Wojcik to clinch the top-ranked Golden Bears' eventual 7-0 rout of Colorado on a warm Saturday afternoon at the Hellman Tennis Complex.

Cal improved its record to 15-0 (4-0 in the Pac-12), while the Buffaloes fell to 6-11 (1-5 Pac-12).

Popovic improved her personal singles record to 13-0 in dual matches and 24-6 overall this season.

Cal raced out to a 1-0 lead winning the doubles point. First, the pair of senior Klara Fabikova and freshman Olivia Hauger blanked the team of Wojcik and Annabelle Andrinopoulos, 6-0. The Bears later led on courts one and two by 5-2 scores, with the court-two duo of sophomore Lyann Hoang and freshman Maria Smith beating Alex Aiello and Brigitte Beck, 6-2, to secure the point.

After clinching Friday's 7-0 romp over No. 65 Utah, junior Denise Starr finished her singles match first against the Buffaloes to give Cal a 2-0 lead. Playing on court three, the 93rd-ranked Bear ousted Aiello, 6-2, 6-0.

Fabikova, ranked 11th, posted a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Jeannez Daniel on court two, and then Popovic clinched over on court five.

In quick succession, Smith defeated Beck on court six, 6-3, 6-1, the 68th-ranked Hauger prevailed 7-5, 6-3 over Andrinopoulos on court four and then seventh-ranked junior Maegan Manasse ended the day with a 7-5, 6-2 victory over the 74th-ranked Nuria Ormeño Ruiz on court one.

“We focused really well, and I thought everyone on our team improved, especially singles-wise,” Cal head coach Amanda Augustus said of today's victory. “Pleased with the performances on all the courts today.”

Cal plays its last two home dual matches of the regular-season when it hosts Oregon in a Conference clash on Friday, April 1, and Stanford in a nonconference affair on Sunday, April 3. The Bears will celebrate the careers of veterans Fabikova and Lynn Chi during its Senior Day ceremony before the Oregon match.

The April 3 Big Slam will air on the Pac-12 Networks.

The Bears will close the regular season with its Pac-12 dual match at Stanford on April 16.
