Storm Ends Cal?s Trip To Kick-Off Weekend

BERKELEY – Due to the storm currently affecting much of the East Coast, the California men's tennis team was unable to travel to Durham, North Carolina, to compete in the ITA Kick-Off Weekend. The 27th-ranked Golden Bears (0-1) were slated to continue their dual-match season against host and No. 23 Duke on Saturday.

The champion of the two-day event at Duke – which includes No. 19 San Diego and No. 26 Vanderbilt – qualifies for the ITA National Men's Team Indoor Championship, scheduled for Feb. 12-15 in Charlottesville, Virginia.

“Obviously, this is disappointing, but we look forward to starting our outdoor season at home next Saturday,” Cal head coach Peter Wright said.

The Bears - who lost indoors at Tulsa on Jan. 15 - will play their first outdoor dual matches of the 2015-16 season on Jan. 30, when they host Hawaii at 9:30 a.m. and San Francisco at 1:30 p.m. at the Hellman Tennis Complex.
