FLUSHING, N.Y. – California's Andre Goransson continued a torrid fall by winning twice on Friday at the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships and reaching Saturday's singles semifinals at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

The semifinal match – against Georgia Tech's 24th-ranked Christopher Eubanks – will be the third match to start after 9 a.m. ET and will air live on ESPN3.

The Golden Bear junior – ranked 22nd in singles – defeated Ohio State's 32nd-ranked Mikael Torpegaard, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, in Friday's round of 16, and later beat 53rd-ranked Arthur Rinderknech of Texas A&M, 6-2, 7-5, in the quarterfinal round.

“After losing the first set of his round of 16 match today,” Cal head coach Peter Wright said, “Andre settled into his game and put tremendous pressure on his opponent by attacking second serves and short balls. He served with precision and he maintained a strong physical and mental balance on court. In his quarterfinal match, he used his incredible foot speed and deft touch at the net to close out many of his points.”

With three victories at national indoors, Goransson improved his singles record to 12-1 this season.

The four-day tournament ends on Sunday.
