TULSA, Okla. – California's seventh-ranked pair of Chase Melton and Gregory Bayane opened consolation doubles with a victory in the round of 16 on Friday at the Saint Francis Health System ITA Men's All-American Championships.

The fourth-seeded team in the consolation bracket, Bayane and Melton defeated Oklahoma's 40th-ranked Axel Alvarez and Dane Webb, 6-2, 3-6, 1-0(7), at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

The Bears will next play Oklahoma State's Ian Dempster and Robbie Mudge in Saturday's quarterfinal round, with the match scheduled for a 1 p.m. CT start.
