BERKELEY - The 10th-ranked California women's tennis team (13-4, 5-0 Pac-12) earned its seventh straight dual victory and stayed perfect in league matches in a 7-0 win against No. 38 Washington State (12-5, 2-3) on Sunday, March 25, at the Hellman Tennis Complex.

The Golden Bears got the clinching point from 100th-ranked junior Annie Goransson as she defeated Charlotte Koning, 6-1, 6-1, at the fifth singles court to snap the Cougars' three-match winning streak. At 5-0, Cal is off to its best start in conference matches since the 2007 Bears also went 5-0 under head coach Jan Brogan. The seven-match winning streak is also the longest for the program since an 11-match run from March 28 through May 18 of 2008 when Cal made a run to the NCAA championship match.

"I was really glad that we got this match in," said head coach Amanda Augustus. "It's always good to get in your pattern of playing both matches on the weekends. This team has been progressing nicely as a group and as a unit. That year that we made the [NCAA] final, it was crucial that we made improvements throughout the year. It's exciting, but we definitely have to keep on working."

Due to the threat of inclement weather conditions, the teams elected to play singles matches first. With five minutes to spare, No. 66-ranked sophomore Anett Schutting came off the courts in under an hour as she took out Ksenia Googe, 6-1, 6-0, at court three to get the Bears on the board. It was Schutting's eighth win in a row and her 26th overall.

Moments after Schutting opened up scoring, sixth-ranked senior Jana Juricova completed her match against No. 43-ranked Liudmila Vasilieva at the top court to give the Bears a 2-0 lead in the dual. Juricova earned her ninth consecutive singles win as she recorded a 6-1, 6-1 win against Vasilieva in 57 minutes. It was just the fourth time this season that Vasilieva had dropped a singles match.

At court two, No. 17-ranked freshman Zsofi Susanyi posted a 6-1, 6-1 win to put Cal in front, 3-0. Susanyi's win was her team-leading 28th of the year and her seventh in a row as she defeated Elisabeth Fournier. Minutes later, Goransson clinched the dual for the second straight match as she defeated Koning, 6-1, 6-1, at court five. The win was also Goransson's eighth in a row.

The Bears earned a fifth point from court four where 54th-ranked junior Tayler Davis got the 6-1, 6-1 win against Andjela Kankaras. Down at court six, sophomore Alice Duranteau won her sixth straight singles match as she took out Olga Musilovich in two sets, 6-4, 7-6, and 7-0 in the second-set tiebreaker.

In doubles matches, Cal's 38th-ranked team of Juricova and Susanyi claimed an 8-0 win over Googe and Kankaras at the top court while Davis and Duranteau picked up an 8-1 win against Koning and Musilovich at court three to deliver a seventh point for the Bears. Cal's 27th-ranked team of Goransson and Schutting completed a sweep of the doubles courts with an 8-4 win against Fournier and Kankaras.

The Bears remain at home to host No. 31 Arizona (12-4, 2-1 Pac-12) and No. 30 Arizona State (10-3, 2-1) in a pair of weekend duals. Cal welcomes the Wildcats for a 1:30 p.m. PT match on Friday, March 30, and then takes on the Sun Devils at noon on Saturday, March 31.
