BERKELEY - No. 5-ranked California women's tennis senior Jana Juricova captured a 6-0, 6-1 victory over No. 49 Marianne Jodoin of Fresno State to highlight a perfect 10-0 day for the Golden Bears on the second day of the 2012 Cal Winter Invitational at the Hellman Tennis Complex on Saturday, Jan. 14.

In six other singles matches against Fresno State, Cal players dropped just one set on their way to a total of seven singles wins. Juricova's win was her 15th singles victory of the year. No. 21 freshman Zsofi Susanyi matched Juricova's 15-win total as she defeated Melissa McQueen, 6-2, 6-1, at the second position, and No. 32-ranked junior Tayler Davis grabbed a 6-3, 6-3 win against Olga Kirpicheva at court three. It was Susanyi's eighth straight singles win dating back to Oct. 23, 2011.

No. 81-ranked junior Annie Goransson upended Laura Pola, 6-2, 6-1, on court four, while No. 74 sophomore Anett Schutting took out Bianca Modoc, 6-1, 6-2, one court down at No. 5 singles. Sophomore Alice Duranteau came back from dropping her first set, 6-3, to Tanya Murtagh and came up with a pair of 6-3 sets of her own to win, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3. No. 64-ranked freshman Cecilia Estlander rounded out Cal's seven wins with her sixth straight victory as she took out Anne Susdorf, 6-1, 6-1, at court seven.

In doubles matches against Saint Mary's College, Juricova and Susanyi dominated the top court in an 8-3 win against Jade Frampton and Jenny Jullien. Goransson and Schutting teamed for their fifth straight win (eighth overall) as they got the 8-4 result against Catherine Isip and Elizabeth Searl. On court three, Duranteau and Estlander edged Carla Lindlar and Catherine Leduc, 9-8, with a 7-2 tiebreaker score.

In one mixed doubles match, senior Stephany Chang and Davis got an 8-2 win against Cal Poly's Kristine Kouyoumjian and Anna Chikhikvishvilli of Saint Mary's College.

Play concludes with final matches on Sunday (Jan. 15). The Bears will face Cal Poly in doubles matches not before 12:15 p.m. PT and wrap up the Winter Invitational with singles matches against Saint Mary's College that will begin not before 2 p.m. PT.
