EUGENE, Ore. - California men's tennis freshman Ben McLachlan served up the winning point in a 6-2, 6-4 victory against Oregon's Jose Izquierdo to help the No. 10 Golden Bears clinch a 7-0 win over the No. 70 Ducks on Fri., Apr. 8, at the Student Tennis Center. With its third consecutive win, Cal moves to 12-5 overall with a 3-1 record in Pac-10 matches while Oregon drops to 10-9 with a 1-3 record in the Pac-10.

The Bears wasted no time securing the victory as seniors Jonathan Dahan and Pedro Zerbini tacked up an 8-0 win over Aaron Clissold and Douglas Mayeda at No. 2 doubles to get the day started. Cal's No. 22-ranked tandem of junior Nick Andrews and sophomore Christoffer Konigsfeldt sealed the first point of the day when they defeated Robin Cambier and Alex Rovello, 8-6, at the top court.

No. 65-ranked sophomore Carlos Cueto put the Bears up, 2-0, on his 6-2, 6-3 victory over Rovello at the top singles court, and Cal was off to the races. Dahan dropped the hammer on Clissold at No. 6 singles with a 6-1, 6-1 win to net a 3-0 lead for the Bears. McLachlan delivered the knock-out punch, next, as he upended Izquierdo, 6-2, 6-4, at No. 4 singles.

With the match decided, Cal continued to roll and got its fifth point of the day when No. 96-ranked Andrews completed a three-set victory over Faynot at court two. Andrews won the first set, 6-4, and dropped the second, 6-2, but he prevailed, 10-5, in the match tiebreaker. Senior Bozhidar Katsarov edged Duncan MacDonald-Korth, 7-6, with a 7-4 score in the first-set tiebreaker, but ran away with a 6-1 win in the second set to push Cal ahead, 6-0.

Konigsfeldt's three-set win over Cambier completed the shutout. Like Katsarov, Konigsfeldt won his first set, with a 7-4 score in the tiebreaker. But he dropped his second set, 6-3, before he completed the victory with a 10-5 decision in the match-tiebreaker.

The Bears are back in action for a key conference dual match against No. 22 Washington (14-8, 1-3 Pac-10) at Bill Quillian Stadium in Seattle at 1 p.m. PT on Sat., Apr. 9. Please visit www.GoHuskies.com for live scoring and streaming video.
