LOS ANGELES - No. 4-ranked California women's tennis junior Jana Juricova made short work of UCLA's No. 53 McCall Jones, 6-1, 6-1, to record her 16th straight singles victory. Juricova's win from the top court put the Golden Bears on the board, but the Bruins secured the dual win, 4-3, on Sat., Mar. 26, at the Los Angeles Tennis Center. UCLA moves to 12-5, 2-1 in the Pac-10, while Cal falls to 12-5 with a 3-1 Pac-10 mark.

The Bruins came out swinging and wrestled away the first point of the day with a pair of wins at courts one and three in doubles. At No. 3 doubles, Maya Johansson and Pamela Montez defeated sophomore Tayler Davis and freshman Alice Duranteau, 8-4. The Bears responded to even things up when sophomore Annie Goransson and freshman Anett Schutting took out UCLA's 16th-ranked team of Noelle Hickey and Jones.

In a tight battle at the top court, the Bruins secured the doubles point as their 17th-ranked duo of Courtney Dolehide and Andrea Remynse edged Cal's third-ranked tandem of senior Mari Andersson and Juricova, 8-5.

Juricova evened the score at one-all on her win at the top singles court over Jones, but the Bruins climbed in front once more, 2-1, as No. 92 Montez earned a 6-4, 6-2 win over Schutting. UCLA went ahead, 3-1, when No. 59 Remynse won, 6-0, 6-1, against No. 57 Goransson at court three.

Senior Marina Cossou forced Johansson into a first-set tiebreaker, but was edged there, 7-4. In a close second set, Johansson came away with a 6-4 win to seal the 12th win of the season for the Bruins. The Bears added their final two points with the match decided. First, No. 31 Andersson took out No. 40 Hickey in her match-tiebreaker, 10-5, at court two, before No. 48 Davis won, 11-9, in her match-tiebreak against No. 102 Dolehide, at court five.
