MALIBU, Calif. - The No. 5-ranked California women's tennis team (4-0) blanked No. 51 Pepperdine (4-2), 7-0, for its fourth straight victory on Friday, Feb. 11, at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center. The Golden Bears secured the doubles point for the fourth time this year as the fifth-ranked tandem of senior Mari Andersson and junior Jana Juricova posted its team-high 20th victory.

Andersson and Juricova's come-from-behind 9-7 win over Arianna Colffer and Marie Zalameda at the top court handed Cal the first point of the day. The Bears found themselves down, 7-5, before they mounted a comeback to win four straight games. Andersson held serve in the final game and put the Cal pair up, 40-love, quickly. The Waves staved off two match points before the next point went the Bears' way.

Though Cal won the doubles point, the Waves made the first splash of the day as Andrea Oates and Tara Panu took out junior Stephany Chang and freshman Alice Duranteau, 8-2, at court three. The Bears pulled even for the doubles point on an 8-3 win by sophomores Tayler Davis and Annie Goransson over Khunpak Issara and Megan Moore at No. 2 doubles.

Chang came off the singles courts first on a 6-3, 6-2 win over Panu at the sixth court to give the Bears a 2-0 lead in the match. No. 44-ranked Goransson stretched Cal's lead to 3-0 on her 6-2, 6-0 win over Oates at court four before top-ranked Juricova sealed the fourth point for the Bears with a 6-4, 6-0 win over Zalameda at No. 1 singles.

Duranteau made the score, 5-0, for Cal on her 7-5, 6-3 win over Moore at the fifth court, and No. 46-ranked Andersson came up with a 7-5 win in her first set before she held off Colffer, 6-1, in the second to give Cal a 6-0 lead in the match. The last point came from No. 35-ranked Davis, whose three-set win (6-4, 3-6, 6-4) over Issara on court three completed play for the day.

The Bears will take on No. 60 San Diego State in a noon dual at the Aztec Tennis Center in San Diego on Saturday, Feb. 12. Please visit CalBears.com for more information.
