ST. HELENA, Calif. - No 123-ranked California men's tennis junior Nick Andrews finished second in his group and was selected to play in the USTA Wild Card Shootout of the 2010 Land Rover Napa Valley Tennis Classic at Meadowood Resort on Sunday, Sept. 26.

Andrews defeated USTA junior Hunter Harrington, 6-3, 6-1, in round robin play to finish second to No. 18-ranked Ed Corrie of Texas. Corrie was unable to compete because of previously arranged travel plans. Andrews went up against No. 9 Alexander Lacroix of Florida in the quarterfinal round, but fell, 10-3, in the pro-set shoot-out match.

No. 122-ranked sophomore Christoffer Konigsfeldt fell in three hard-fought sets to Johnny Hamui of Illinois, 6-7, 6-3, 7-6. Konigsfeldt won the first-set tiebreaker, 7-4, but was edged out in the third-set breaker, 7-5. Senior Jonathan Dahan drew Anthony Rossi of Kentucky in his round robin match, but was turned away, 6-1, 7-5.

The Bears are back in action next weekend (Oct. 1-3) at two separate tournaments. Players will head to San Francisco for the Battle of the Bay tournament hosted by USF and Fresno, Calif. for the Fresno State Bulldog Classic. Please visit CalBears.com for more information.
