Men's Tennis Doubles Up at UVA Classic

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The California men's tennis team wrapped up play at the 2010 UVA Fall Classic on Sunday, Sept. 12, with doubles titles in both the Blue and Orange flights at the Snyder Tennis Center. No. 122-ranked sophomore Christoffer Konigsfeldt fought off Sergio Wyss of Maryland to win the White flight's singles title in three sets, 6-3, 6-7, 6-0.

In the Blue doubles flight, senior Pedro Zerbini and Konigsfeldt walked away with the crown as they cruised to an 8-2 win over Ben Guthrie and Sebastien Vidal of William and Mary. Junior Nick Andrews and sophomore Riki McLachlan claimed the Orange doubles championship as they defeated Philippe Oudshoorn and Steven Eelkman Rooda of host Virginia, 8-5.

McLachlan met Oudshoorn in the Orange singles final, but was edged out in the third-set tiebreaker, 2-6, 6-4, 7-6. No. 17-ranked Zerbini and No. 123-ranked Andrews were scheduled to face-off in the Blue singles title match, but opted not to play.
