TULSA, Okla. - California's men's tennis doubles team of senior Jonathan Dahan and junior Nick Andrews advanced to the doubles round of 32 at the 2010 D'Novo/ITA All-American Tennis Championships at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on Thursday, Oct. 7. No. 17-ranked senior Pedro Zerbini won his first-round match and earned a shot in the round of 32 of the main singles draw, but was eliminated in a tough match against No. 59-ranked Ryan Thacher of Stanford.

Zerbini took out No. 60-ranked Akash Muppidi of Boston College with two strong sets, 7-5, 6-4, in the opening round. The win drew a familiar foe in Thacher. The two battled in the first set and went to a tiebreaker. Thacher had the edge in the breaker and won, 7-2, to take momentum into the second set. Zerbini was unable to even the match before Thacher turned a 6-2 win in the second into a ticket to the round of 16.

Sophomore Christoffer Konigsfeldt teamed up with Zerbini for first-round doubles action, but the two were unable to synch up as they fell, 8-3, to Mississippi's No. 22-ranked team of Jonas Lutjen and Tucker Vorster. The Cal tandem will get a shot in the back draw as they open up with a match against Matt Allare and Shuhei Uzawa of Ohio State at noon PT, on Friday, Oct. 8. The back-draw quarterfinals are set for 1:30 p.m. PT.

Andrews and Dahan had their way with hometown heroes Alastair Barnes and Grant Ive of Tulsa, as they produced one of just two 8-1 scores in the first round to move into the round of 16. They will draw Stanford's second-seeded and No. 2-ranked team of Bradley Klahn and Thacher in the round of 16 at noon PT on Friday, Oct. 8. If victorious, the Bears face the winner between Oklahoma State's team of Aleksey Bessonov and Rifat Biktyakov and Ohio State's No. 19-ranked tandem of Chase Buchanan and Blaz Rola in a 1:30 p.m. PT match.

Play continues with two rounds of doubles (round of 16 and quarterfinals) and one round of singles (round of 16) on Friday, Oct. 8. Championship matches in both the singles and doubles main draws will be played on Sunday, Oct. 10. Please visit www.itatennis.com for complete information, schedules, draws and results.
