Berkeley, Calif. - The fifth-ranked California women's tennis team overcame a six hour rain delay and change of venue to down Texas A&M, 5-0 in the second round NCAA tournament play Sunday afternoon. The match began as scheduled at 10 a.m. in Berkeley but was suspended and moved indoors to the San Francisco Tennis Club after rain made play impossible at Hellman Tennis Center's. With the win the Bears move to 19-6 on the year and advance to their sixteenth consecutive sweet 16. They will take on Vanderbilt on Thursday at Pepperdine's Ralph-Strauss Tennis Center in Malibu, Calif.

For the second day in a row the Bears simply dominated doubles play, sweeping all five matches in straight sets. Anita Kurimay showed why she was an all-Pac-10 second team honoree, downing the Aggies Olivia Karlikova, 6-1, 6-1 on court one. Senior Amy Jensen tied her career wins for a season at 29 by defeating Cassie Haas, 6-4, 6-3 in the No. 2 spot while seniors Claire Curran and Karoline Borgersen were no less impressive, defeating Leah Killen, 6-2, 6-0, and Lisa Dingwail, 6-2, 6-4 on courts three and four respectively. Freshman Christina cruised to victory on court six, serving up a 6-0, 6-0, win over Eva Marcial to net her 27th win of the year. All in all the Bears outscored the Aggies, 60-17.

Doubles play was suspended as NCAA rule prevents them from being played when the outcome of the match is already decided.
