No. 3 Women's Tennis Downs Wisconsin, 6-1

MADISON, Wis. - The third-ranked Cal women's tennis team defeated Wisconsin, 6-1, in the first round of the ITA National Indoor Tournament Thursday.

The Bears, now 4-0 on the year, advance to play No. 7 Duke Friday in the quarterfinals.

Cal lost the doubles point by falling in two of the three doubles matches. But the Bears came back to sweep the singles, losing only one set along the way.

At No. 1 singles, Amy Jensen beat April Gabler, 6-4, 6-0, while Anita Kurimay downed Vanessa Rauh at No. 2 singles.

The ITA tournament continues through Sunday afternoon.
